SCANDINAVIAN DESIGNS

Tasked with repositioning the Scandinavian Designs brand in the retail marketplace by enhancing the customer experience, we welcomed the opportunity to deliver a building that is innovative, functional, and economical. Located within an existing strip shopping center, adjacent to a Walmart, this new tilt-up concrete and wood panel building established a contemporary identity for the complex.

Inside this prototypical furniture showroom, a large span of flexible interior space features appropriately scaled furniture display vignettes.

Utilizing Scandinavian design principles that balance the man-made with the organic, we incorporated green building components, including native landscaping, energy-efficient and passive heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, and daylighting.

Working within the owner’s limited budget, on a tight schedule, and under a restrictive aesthetic covenant for the complex, we applied efficient construction technologies, repetitive steel framing, standard storefront glazing, and a rain screen facade system.
