Roth Sheppard designed the Dickinson Public Safety Center to consolidate the City’s fire and police departments into a single, strategically located facility. The City needed a long-term civic building that would serve the community efficiently for decades to come.
Working closely with user groups, the team designed the building from the inside out, prioritizing operational clarity and clear separation of secure and public functions. The architectural response draws from the site’s stream and wetland context and the Mandan tradition of hillside dwellings protected by a semi-circular enclosure.
The resulting facility provides a quiet, contextual presence in the landscape — a lasting civic landmark that symbolizes safety and service for the Dickinson community. It houses the Police and Fire Departments, administrative functions, and a mission-critical 911 communications center.
