Dickinson, ND | 42,500 SF facility with police and fire depts., administrative offices and emergency dispatch.
The street facing facade reveals the overlap of the pre-engineered metal building, and the corten steel wall that wraps it.
The glassy apparatus bay showcases the fire engines, communicating the building’s use.
The apparatus bay reaches out to the community by punching through the wall, conversely, the lobby is pulled back, inviting visitors in.
The public lobby is bright and comfortable - floor-to-ceiling glass allows the surrounding grasslands to be an incorporated element.
Slit windows are placed at various heights, (clerestory, standing and sitting), depending on each use within.
