ROTH + SHEPPARD ARCHITECTS TO DESIGN FOUR NEW COLORADO RESTAURANTS
Demand for Higher Quality Restaurant Design Drives Architecture Firm's Expansion

DENVER, Colorado—March 30, 2010—Roth + Sheppard Architects, a leading Denver-based architectural firm known for its restaurant, retail and entertainment design throughout the West, today announced four new Colorado-based restaurant commissions along with plans for expanding the firm's staff to meet growing client needs.

Jeffrey Sheppard, AIA, design principal and one of two founders of the firm explains, "Based on multiple restaurant projects already underway and four new restaurants now going through the design phase, we believe the economy is finally starting to turn. To this end, we're staffing up for the first time since 2008!"

The fast-casual restaurant chain, Tokyo Joes, has commissioned Roth + Sheppard to design their 15th location, and their first restaurant in Arvada. "This design will represent a shift in thinking from the former controlled chaos and high-energy of past concepts to a warmer, more rational, inviting interior," states Sheppard. "The new design speaks to the culture of Japanese food as well as the fast, healthy, 'common Joe' character of this popular restaurant chain through subtle recollections of Japan's nostalgic bamboo forests, linear rice patties and abstract interpretations of the traditional bento box."

The new Amatos Breckenridge Brewery to be located in the Amatos Building—one of the most recognized landmark buildings in Denver's Highlands area—will be a welcome beacon for this popular neighborhood. Roth + Sheppard's design for the brewery will highlight the existing structure while introducing garden ornaments and urns, leveraging one of the most amazing views of downtown.

Hygge, a new restaurant/bar in Uptown Denver will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Its design concept is based on the Danish word Hygge, which refers to a warm, cozy, comfortable feeling of wellbeing [a word analogous to the German term Gumutlichkeit]. The restaurant's movable interior will transform itself throughout the day via a series of flexible sliding panels, lighting features and innovative furniture elements designed to functionally and aesthetically respond to the menu, changing behavior conditions and the emotional state of patrons.

Dream Café will be serving breakfast and lunch on Grand Junction's Main Street featuring a unique selection of natural, sustainable, local cuisine. With the draw of an outdoor patio for alfresco dining, and an inviting light-filled interior accented by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, this new restaurant will help activate Grand Junction's historic downtown while differentiating itself from more traditional restaurants throughout the Western Slope.
