CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE / SOUTH METRO FIRE RESCUE JOINT PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY

The Joint Public Safety Facility in Cherry Hills Village is a modern police facility tucked into a residential neighborhood and embedded in the local historical context. The design of the facility balances timeless traditional forms and elegant modern appeal. The concept for the building used the neighborhood as a precedent, with rural structures such as barns becoming the inspiration for the massing.

The objective of this joint public safety facility was to provide adequate space for the fire and police departments based on community growth projections, staff expansion, and increased space requirements. An architectural needs assessment and operational program was completed as part of the initial design phase.

This facility serves both Cherry Hills Village public servants and the community. It was designed to provide a more desirable working environment for both the police and fire departments. The interior spaces, including the Community Room, are filled with natural light and a visual connection to the outdoors. In addition, areas of the building have been specifically designed to create interaction between the departments and the community.
